![]() ![]() Maybe it’s because I’ve just seen so much in gaming that nothing impresses me anymore. There was something extremely special about that. Tracking down stuff was more convenient, yet still fun. Hell, even 4 or 5 years ago it was still rewarding. Remember when publications would send special demo and trailer discs to their subscribers? Maybe some obscure forum source that you had no way to truly verify dropped some info that may or may not have been false. To have to search for a trailer that may have been shown at E3 and gotten recorded on a potato cam. Hope you were subscribed or knew a good place to grab that issue right away. Having to wait until the next issue of EGM, Nintendo Power, Game Informer, GamePro, PC Gaming World, etc. At some point, it just became so.unrewarding to follow gaming. Who cares about them? It's all about 2D platformers and postmodern narrative games now baby!Ĭlick to shrink.This is honestly why I think I’ve become as disinterested in gaming. ![]() What other indie racing game is coming out? Racing Apex? That and 90's Arcade Racer and.that's it. They just plain do not make games like that anymore. Redout is one of my favorite games recently and that game feels like it came out of an entirely different time period. The casual players who used to play Burnout and Need for Speed ended up moving to open world AAA games and shooters and the more dedicated fans of the genre weren't enough to sustain development, especially with the rising costs of HD assets. And that just.doesn't exist anymore? Indie teams are generally more interested in other genres and most just don't have the manpower/budget for even a small 3D title as opposed to a 2D one. Like, I know people have mentioned this before on this page, but racing games used to honestly be a pretty healthy genre full of mid-tier entries that may not have lit the charts on fire, but if you were a fan of the genre they were fun. It's not merely about that, some genres are ad. ![]()
